custom design by me: gold soles

I'm so excited to share this crafty tip because I cannot believe I hadn't thought of it before or that no one else has done it (that I've seen). Inspired by Christian Louboutin's famous red soles, I painted the soles of a pair of my heels a shiny gold to give myself twinkle toes.
Shoes, Nine West (customized by me!)
It's so easy to do yourself.
Step 1: Wipe off any dirt on the soles and use painter's tape to seal the sides of your heels. The tape may damage delicate material on a pair of shoes so it's best to do this with ones made of leather.

Step 2: Paint the soles with an acrylic paint in your choice of color. I used a makeup sponge to paint, but a foam brush would also work well. You'll need at least two coats, but you may want three. My first coat barely covered the soles so you could hardly tell there was gold paint on them.

Step 3: Use tape to cover up the heels and paint the heels a couple coats.

Step 4: Give the paint plenty of time to dry, remove the tape, and take your custom-designed heels out for a spin!
As you may know, I absolutely adore gold jewelry, accents, and hardware and won't be caught in silver. Painting my soles gold is a unique way to take my signature look down to the tips of my toes. If you love pink, try pink soles, or get really creative and paint striped or patterned soles!
