(parisian) trend i'm trying: shorts with tights

When I was in Paris last Spring, women all over the city were wearing shorts with tights. Denim cutoffs, cotton shorts, leather shorts, it didn't matter, they were paired with opaque black tights. While shorts with tights isn't a new trend, it was ubiquitous in Paris, so I've been inspired to give it a try since then.

My sister and I were talking about shorts and she said "shorts gave up on me a long time ago, so I gave up on them." I laughed because the same was true for me (I hate shorts!), but shorts with tights is such a new way to wear them that we're both giving shorts another try.

I wore this look when I was in San Diego with some footless tights and smoking slippers because the weather is so warm. When I'm in Boston, I wear this look on the weekend with my moto boots to toughen it up and protect my feet from the cold.

This is a trend worth trying because it doesn't really matter what types of shorts you wear or with what color tights. And it's a whole new way to see shorts, which in my case, was absolutely necessary.

This look is also an easy way to double your wardrobe in the winter by re-mixing your shorts--even your summery ones.
